The Hertfordshire (Temporary Closing and Temporary Waiting Restrictions in Various Roads in Newgate Street, Pottersheath, Welwyn, Digswell and Welwyn Garden City) Order 2018

 

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

  1. that length of New Park Road, Newgate Street from its junction with Newgate Street Village north westwards for a distance of approximately 655 metres.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. that length of Pottersheath Road, Pottersheath/Welwyn from its junction with Canonsfield Road north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Spinney Lane, a distance of approximately 975 metres.

An alternative route will be via Canonsfield Road, Heath Road, B197 (Mardley Hill/London Road), Bridge Road, Wych Elm Lane and Spinney Lane.

  1. that length of Harmer Green Lane, Digswell from its junction with Hertford Road north westwards, north eastwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 1549 metres.

An alternative route will be via Hertford Road, B1000 Hertford Road, Archers Green Lane, School Lane, Lower Green, Upper Green Road, Upper Green, Orchard Road and Harmer Green Lane.

  1. that length of New Road, Digswell from its southernmost junction with Harmer Green Lane north eastwards to its northernmost junction with Harmer Green Lane, a distance of approximately 1142 metres.

An alternative route will be via Harmer Green Lane.

  1. that length of Adele Avenue, Welwyn from its junction with Harmer Green Lane south eastwards and north eastwards to its junctions with New Road, a distance of approximately 199 metres.

An alternative route will be via Harmer Green Lane and New Road.

  1. that length of Harmer Dell/The Dell, Digswell from its junction with Harmer Green Lane eastwards, south eastwards and north eastwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. that length of Sharmans Close, Digswell from its junction with Harmer Green Lane north westwards and south westwards for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. that length of Mornington, Digswell from its junction with New Road south eastwards, south westwards, south eastwards and clockwise for its entire length.

There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.

  1. that length of Wheatley Road, Welwyn Garden City from its junction with Cole Green Lane north eastwards to its southernmost junction wih Wellcroft Road, a distance of approximately 122 metres.

An alternative route will be via Cole Green Lane, Sweet Bria, Blackthorn Road and Wellcroft Road.

  1. that length of Wheatley Road, Welwyn Garden City from its southernmost junction with Wellcroft Road north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 310 metres.

An alternative route will be via Wellcroft Road.

  1. that length of Wellcroft Road, Welwyn Garden City from its southernmost junction with Wheatley Road south eastwards, north eastwards and north westwards to its northernmost junction with Wheatley Road, a distance of approximately 630 metres.

An alternative route will be via Wheatley Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 April 2018 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

A copy of the proposed Order may be inspected free of charge at County Hall, Hertford between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm (excluding weekends, bank and public holidays).
